<a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/?q=android+4.3" target="_blank">Android 4.3 Jelly Bean</a> will come with native support for Hindi, in addition to a whole bunch of other languages including Afrikaans, Amharic, Arabic, Hebrew, Swahili and Zulu.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yesterday, at its Breakfast with Sundar Pichai event, <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/?q=google" target="_blank">Google</a> took the covers off the latest version of Android, 4.3 Jelly Bean. The update may have been a minor one, but it has brought a whole lot of improvements and additions to the fore. While we've already discussed on <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/?q=android+4.3" target="_blank">Android 4.3</a>, here's one interesting addition worth taking note of. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The updated OS is clearly exciting news for those who’d been on the lookout the native Hindi support . Earlier this year in March, <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/?q=google" target="_blank">Google</a> had released a Hindi input app to let Android users type in Hindi.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The app works like a keyboard extension and once installed, users can choose to type in Hindi for just about everything.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can compose text messages, type email or even create word documents in Hindi. Your phone should be able to read Hindi characters for the app to work, so check for that before you download it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The renew of the <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/2013/07/googles-promote-new-nexus-7-tablet-with.html" target="_blank">Nexus 7</a> will be the first device to get Android 4.3 out of the box, and other Nexus devices will be receiving the update OTA over the coming days. So, if you own the Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Nexus 10 or Galaxy Nexus, then the update should be hitting your device soon.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Users who are familiar with flashing ROMs can browse through this list for the factory image of Android 4.3. Besides the Nexus devices, the Google Play Store editions of the <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/2013/07/samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-review.html" target="_blank">Samsung Galaxy S4</a> and the <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/?q=htc" target="_blank">HTC One</a> are also expected to get the new update very soon.</div>

The phone's build number is JWR66N.S005.130625 in which JWR66N depicts the <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Android">Android</a> build while S005.130625 is Samsung's internal naming convention for test builds.</span><br />

<br style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;" />
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">We had </span>earlier seen<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;"> the same camera app when a <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Google%20Nexus%204">Nexus 4</a> running Android 4.3 was spotted at the Thailand Mobile Expo, last month. So, it's possible that the Android 4.3 will bring the updated camera app, and Samsung was given early access to include it in Android 4.2.2 build of the Galaxy S4.</span><br />
<br style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;" />
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">Besides the updated camera app, Android 4.3 is also expected to feature native support for Bluetooth Smart Ready technology. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group in a press statement earlier confirmed that Google had committed to bringing support for Bluetooth Smart to future versions of the operating system. Bluetooth Smart allows compatible phones to take advantage of low power consumption with Bluetooth Smart ready devices like the Fitbit Flex or Pebble mart watch. The statement had said that the newest version of Android OS natively supports Bluetooth Smart Ready technology. </span><br />

Another </span>report<br />
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;"> had claimed that Google would release Android 4.3 on June 10 along with the White colour variant of the Nexus 4 phone, but that did not materialise either.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Google">Google Inc.</a> is developing a video <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Game%20Console">game console</a> and wristwatch powered by its <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Android">Android</a> operating system, according to people familiar with the matter, as the Internet company seeks to spread the software beyond smartphones and tablets.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With the game machine and digital watch, Google is hoping to combat similar devices that <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Apple">Apple Inc.</a> may release in the future, according to the people.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Google is also preparing to release a second version of an Android-powered media-streaming device, called Nexus Q, that was unveiled last year but not sold to the public, these people said.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
The Internet giant hopes to design and market the devices itself and release at least one of them this fall, they added.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A Google spokeswoman declined to comment.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The hardware plans are the latest sign of Google’s determination to build on the success of Android, the software it launched in 2008 that powered 75% of all smartphones and 57% of tablets shipped globally in the first quarter, according to the research firm IDC.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Games that run on Android software have proved particularly popular, and they are growing more quickly than games made for the big-name consoles supplied by Microsoft Corp., Sony Corp. and Nintendo Co. The appeal of such games has prompted the development of new devices aimed specifically for Android by other hardware companies.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Sony">Sony</a> and <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Microsoft">Microsoft</a> have recently unveiled new versions of their PlayStation and Xbox game consoles, which are expected to go on sale later this year. Together with Nintendo, sales of the games for these devices accounted for most of the $24.9 billion spent world-wide last year on console games, according to market researcher PwC.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The people briefed on the matter said Google is reacting in part to expectations that rival Apple will launch a videogame console as part of its next Apple TV product release.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Google has also been watching the efforts of Ouya Inc., a startup that this week began selling a $99 Android-based console and game controller, one of these people said.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The company’s hardware efforts come as it wraps up development on the next version of Android, which is expected to be released in the fall. Among other things, the software will be better tailored to the lower-cost smartphones prevalent in developing countries with the aim of firming up Android’s market-share globally, said some of the people familiar with the matter.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Google, through its Android unit and Google X hardware lab, is seeking to build devices separately from the company’s Motorola hardware division. The handset maker was acquired last year and is currently focused on launching an Android-based smartphone called the Moto X, these people said.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Meanwhile, Google has been developing low-cost Android smartphones of its own with an eye toward offering them in developing markets, other people familiar with the matter have said, including in markets where Google plans to fund or help create next-generation wireless networks.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With the next release of Android this fall, Google is also moving more aggressively to use the software in additional kinds of devices, including laptops and appliances such as refrigerators.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Personal-computer makers including Hewlett Packard Co. are already working on Android-powered laptops running the next version of the software, an effort that is separate from already launched Android tablets that can physically connect to a keyboard, according to people familiar with the matter. Android laptops would thus compete with those powered by Microsoft’s Windows software. An H-P spokeswoman declined to comment.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Android">Android</a> is offered free to makers of devices like smartphones and tablets, with Samsung Electronics Co. the biggest of Google’s hardware partners. The hardware helps Google generate revenue from services like Google Search and YouTube.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Last fall Google said it was on track to generate $8 billion annually in gross revenue from mobile devices, though some analysts say the majority of Google’s net mobile revenue comes from Web search and YouTube used on Apple devices.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As part of the release of the next Android version—known internally as “K release” and referred to by industry observers as “Key Lime Pie”—Google will give manufacturers such as Samsung greater freedom to use Android in devices other than smartphones and tablets, such as appliances and wearable devices, said people familiar with the matter.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Manufacturers that build devices using the official version of Android—which comes with Google’s Web services preinstalled—weren’t previously allowed by Google to use the Android name to promote devices other than smartphones and tablets. Over time, Google has changed its “compatibility” restrictions to allow for more device types.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Samsung has said it’s working on an Android-based watch with smartphone-like capabilities. Wearable computing is a hot area of development for startups and technology giants. The Wall Street Journal reported in February that Apple was developing a watch-like device with smartphone features.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Google’s planned watch is expected to connect to a person’s smartphone via Bluetooth technology, said people familiar with the matter. The Business Insider blog said in January that Google was “actively exploring the idea” of making such a watch.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Some industry observers say Google, Samsung and other technology companies are motivated in part by a desire not to let Apple build a big lead in a newer product category, as it did after launching the iPhone and iPad.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For its part, Google is also trying to popularize a new category of wearable devices. Its most serious effort is <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Google%20Glass">Google Glass</a>, a device worn on the face with a computer screen above one eye. It delivers information from the person’s smartphone, which is connected to Glass via Bluetooth technology. The device, made by the Google X unit, is expected to go on sale to the public next year.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Google has hit some bumps on the road to becoming a legitimate hardware manufacturer and consumer-electronics brand like Apple.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first version of its spherically shaped <a href="http://techbute.blogspot.in/search/label/Nexus">Nexus</a> Q home-entertainment device—the first-ever consumer device designed and marketed by Google—was unveiled last year, but its sale to the public was canceled amid criticism that its $299 price tag was too high. The next version of the Android-based device, which is supposed to help Google sell more music and movies through Google Play, will be much less expensive, said the people familiar with the matter.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
According to Google, the majority of Android devices currently being used rely on a version of the software released in 2011 that has fewer capabilities than newer releases. Some industry experts say that the most recent versions of Android are better for higher-end devices than lower-end or older ones that had, for instance, 512 megabytes of memory.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The coming version of Android is supposed to remedy the issue, said people familiar with the matter, and also help mobile app developers focus on optimizing their apps for fewer versions of the software.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Google’s head of Android, Sundar Pichai, in May said more than 900 million devices powered by Android had been activated worldwide, up from 400 million a year ago and 100 million two years ago.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jen-Hsun_Huang">Jen-Hsun Huang</a>, the chief executive of Nvidia Corp., which makes microchips for devices powered by Android, said in a recent interview that over time there would be three billion people who use Android devices, and that one million programmers globally are already using the software to build applications or devices. He said Android is poised to disrupt the video game and consumer-electronics industry; computer systems in cars; as well as personal computing, such as desktop computers. He declined to discuss any unreleased products.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
“If you’re a child living outside of California, your first device is likely to be Android,” he said.</div>

Google has filed a patent suggesting users pull a series of faces, like sticking out their tongue or wrinkling their nose, in place of a password to unlock their Android phones or tablets.<br />
<br />
Google says requiring specific gestures could prevent the existing Face Unlock facility being fooled by photos, reports BBC News.<br />
<br />
The document - which was filed in June 2012 but has only just been published - suggests the software could track a "facial landmark" to confirm a user not only looks like the device's owner but also carries out the right action.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8yXWgOjLC0E3zmSW4CmG1sZnVndu8Ck2L5iphs8c1JeXxN4_bvnd9xSHxFBPNhuOEsGGTZSDkb8e8yVu9z4aLbPvP0ah4BiO7ZLfyG_txR4GmadhU-DwfboWm1AdzhA9sdggnTIxTeoA/s1600/Face+Password+model.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8yXWgOjLC0E3zmSW4CmG1sZnVndu8Ck2L5iphs8c1JeXxN4_bvnd9xSHxFBPNhuOEsGGTZSDkb8e8yVu9z4aLbPvP0ah4BiO7ZLfyG_txR4GmadhU-DwfboWm1AdzhA9sdggnTIxTeoA/s1600/Face+Password+model.jpg" /></a>It says examples of the requests that might be made include, a frown, a tongue protrusion, an open-mouth smile, a forehead wrinkle, an eyebrow movement.<br />
<br />
It says the check would work by comparing two images taken from a captured video stream of the user's face to see if the difference between them showed the gesture<br />
had been made.<br />
<br />
The filing also notes several ways the software might check that the device was being shown a real person's face rather than doctored photographs.<br />
<br />
These include studying other frames from the captured video stream to check that the person had made a sequence of movements to achieve the commanded gesture, and confirming all of the frames actually showed the person's face.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8reOz8HSA42BVM2Zc6Pm7COly5tV9E09bflCoWFE_kQuiF5Y8n9_nqsok600PEcjPknIrN7y6Z3JCWPTtB9E8of-50xsZOlNZrxTOqV8605-YaFjyADYyF5ARxOx7xsfrFndd9N6VCK8/s1600/Face+Password.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="569" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8reOz8HSA42BVM2Zc6Pm7COly5tV9E09bflCoWFE_kQuiF5Y8n9_nqsok600PEcjPknIrN7y6Z3JCWPTtB9E8of-50xsZOlNZrxTOqV8605-YaFjyADYyF5ARxOx7xsfrFndd9N6VCK8/s640/Face+Password.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
In addition it says the software could monitor if there were changes in the angle of the person's face to ensure the device was not being shown a still image with a fake gesture animated on top.<br />
<br />
Such efforts might help address criticism that its current face detection software is insecure.</div>

<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">As PC shipments fall, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) has announced that it's keen to power Android and Chrome OS devices.</span><br />
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;"><br /></span>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
In an interview with PC World during Computex, Taiwan, Lisa Su, senior vice president and general manager of global business units at AMD, said that the company is open to expanding OS options as it makes x86 and ARM chips. She also indicated that the company is looking to expand its custom-chip business as Android and Chrome OS offer options for such design integration, although it is still committed to Windows 8.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
Earlier, during CES, AMD had said that it was not interested in entering the low-cost tablet market and was confident about Windows 8. Su had said that Windows 8 may be off to a slow start, but would catch on in the future and that AMD was interested in higher-end Windows 8 tablets. She had also said that the company was not interested in powering Android tablets.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
According to the new report, AMD did not comment on when AMD-powered Android tablets will make it to the market but it's working with developers on making Android apps compatible with its chips.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
AMD has already captured the next generation gaming consoles with its chips powering all three major game systems, the Wii U, Xbox One and Playstation 4.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
It's worth pointing out that the majority of Android tablets are powered by chips based on ARM architecture, though Intel has also started focusing on the OS, as manufacturers like Asus and Samsung adopt its chips.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
Intel will be launching upgraded Atom chipsets for tablets with the Bay Trail-T SoC (system on chip) in the holiday season. The new quad-core chip features Intel's 22nm low-power Silvermont micro-architecture for tablets which is similar to the manufacturer's new Haswell micro-architecture for computers. The major highlight of the chips is the integrated 4G LTE support. Aimed at tablets, Intel claims that the new 22nm quad-core Atom SoC will deliver twice the CPU and thrice the graphics performance of the current generation of processors. It will also enhance up to eight hours of battery life.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline-style: none;">
<br /></div>
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">So it looks like PC chip makers Intel and AMD would now compete in the tablets market as more users switch to them in the post-PC era.</span></div>

Asus doubles down with the Transformer Book Trio

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEict8LFc72u11-VKwcOwzkLXuw7Fjt0MfJ_reTxUgfhvO67u2yQldGHfgrGsIxzouLT-ZS6WkvbfCqoH0ZerQV3sLLYpy3fa8ITmVUlp6dn3B8Ilsg35QCmAiuBd4oeXe5ogLnecofu1GY/s1600/Asus+doubles+down+with+the+Transformer+Book+Trio.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEict8LFc72u11-VKwcOwzkLXuw7Fjt0MfJ_reTxUgfhvO67u2yQldGHfgrGsIxzouLT-ZS6WkvbfCqoH0ZerQV3sLLYpy3fa8ITmVUlp6dn3B8Ilsg35QCmAiuBd4oeXe5ogLnecofu1GY/s640/Asus+doubles+down+with+the+Transformer+Book+Trio.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px;">Asus kicked off the hybrid craze with the first Transformer tablet and laptop dock running Android. It has continually iterated the product line, up through the impressive Transformer Prime model. It's now taking it to a whole new level with the Transformer Book Trio just unveiled at Computex in Taipei with both Android and Windows 8 inside.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The Transformer Book Trio is an Android tablet like earlier Transformer models but the similarity ends there. When the tablet is plugged into the laptop dock, which looks a lot like earlier models, the Trio becomes a full-fledged Windows 8 laptop due to the full hardware complement inside the dock.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Asus has essentially built an Android tablet with all the standard hardware in the slate, and also put a decent PC system in the laptop dock. The two OSes can be toggled as desired via a simple hotkey, as reported by Engadget's Dana Wollman. Run Windows when you wish, and switch to Android when that makes more sense. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The Windows 8 compatible hardware in the dock is not typical for hybrids as the Trio rocks a new Haswell Core i7 that accesses a 1TB hard drive. That massive storage is augmented by the 16GB of storage in the tablet. An Intel Atom is running the Android side in place of the standard ARM solutions. Both the tablet and the laptop dock have batteries that work together to supposedly provide decent battery life.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The Transformer Book Trio will no doubt be expensive due to the latest Intel processor and the dual nature of the hardware. It is essentially two full systems in one and it's unlikely one of them will be free.</div>
<div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Some are saying this dual system is a new category, but Lenovo did this back in 2010 with its U1 hybrid. I remember vividly stepping into a large room in the Mirage Hotel during the CES that year and having my eyes drawn to the U1 despite all the systems on display.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The U1 was first shown when Android was just a growing gleam in Andy Rubin's eye so Lenovo put its Skylight UI, a special Linux variant, to run the tablet. The laptop dock of the U1 had a full Intel-based Windows PC inside, much like that of the Transformer Prime Trio.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #252525; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 18px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
What impressed me so much with the U1 was the way the system automatically switched from Windows to Skylight when the tablet was removed from the dock. It wasn't just the quick switchover that was impressive, it was the fact that the two OSes inside the laptop were constantly communicating. This made it possible to pick up exactly where you were when one OS handed off control to the other. </div>
