Google has updated its Search app for Android with a new feature that remembers where you parked your car. The search giant has added a new card in Google Now that will instantly show them where the car is parked.
Apart from the parking card, the version 3.4 also adds new reminders, centralized list of nicknames and voice support for some settings. The ‘Help’ and ‘Send feedback’ sections are now merged into one called ‘Help and feedback’. Under Accounts and Privacy, one will find a centralized list of nicknames. The offline mode doesn’t clear all cards, and it will now save cards from your last update.
The Parking location card isn’t released yet, but Android Police has got its hands on a signed APK. Users can download the APK here. This new feature is reportedly capable of automatically detecting where you parked you car, and is smart enough to remember the distance you’ve walked from the location. The card shows a car on a map marked with a blue circle, along with the approximate distance.
There are fair chances of false detection too, because Google is using the smartphone’s location sensors to detect each time a user walks away from a moving vehicle. For instance, if you exit a friend’s car or a bus.
However, to tackle such a situation Google will allow users to customize parking location cards. Users can choose when a parking location card shows up in Google Now and also turn it off when not required. Those who don’t drive often can turn off parking location cards by changing your transportation setting in Google Now.
